Tenerife is the largest island in the archipelago with an area of 2034 km2.
Its population of 886,033 inhabitants (435 inhabitants per km2) make it the most populated of the Spanish islands.

The two major cities are the capital, Santa Cruz (pop. 221,956) and La Laguna (pop.148,375).


Tenerife is known for its landscapes of stunning beauty and contrasts. Being so close to the equator the climate is temperate giving rise to a unique flora, fauna and topography.


Tenerife has a vibrant modern culture which proudly preserves its varied traditions, festivals, folklore and celebrations.


Tenerife is part of Macaronesia, one of the most important natural regions of the planet´s flora and fauna. The Teide National Park, home of the dormant volcano, 'El Teide', is the most visited nature reserve in Spain and is famous for its exotic contrasts.
